At 10 years old, my training began in the dirt.I slid a lead plumbing pipe through old tires and cinder blocks to create my first barbell. My first bench press was built from scrap 2x4s and plywood.

My chin-up bar was a wooden support beam in my father’s smokehouse.There were no fitness influencers.
No fancy gyms.
No shortcuts.

Just work. By 14, while working as a laborer, my employer gave me my first real weight set—old Sears cement-filled weights and iron plates.I still remember lying on that homemade wooden bench in the Oklahoma elements, grinding through rep after rep while snow and rain fell from the sky.Those moments built more than muscle.They built discipline.

When I entered the United States Air Force, I stepped into a fully equipped weight room for the first time.I attacked it relentlessly.Soon, dozens of young Airmen were training alongside me each day. By age 19, I was winning powerlifting and bodybuilding championships.That foundation launched a career spanning more than four decades.

Over the years, I have trained competitive athletes, physicians, cardiologists, business leaders, and high-performing executives. If my athletes didn’t win their division outright, they consistently finished among the top competitors.Today, more than 50 years after lifting that first plumbing pipe, I still train.But my focus has evolved.

My daily regimen combines strength training, obstacle-course conditioning, hill sprints, athletic movement, nutrition systems, and performance habits designed for longevity.People in their 30s often tell me they walk for exercise.At 63, I tell them:”I’m not old enough to walk yet.”I jog.
I run.
