Are Fats Really the Enemy?
Learn the Truth About Healthy Fats and Why Your Body Needs Them
For years, dietary fat was blamed for weight gain, heart disease, and poor health. Grocery store shelves filled with “low-fat” products, and many people began avoiding foods like avocados, nuts, olive oil, and salmon—foods that are actually rich in nutrients.
Today, we know the story is much more complicated.
The truth is, your body needs fat. The goal isn’t to avoid fat—it’s to choose the right kinds and eat them in appropriate amounts.
The Multibolic Principle™
Not all fats are created equal.
Healthy fats play a critical role in nearly every system of your body. They support hormone production, help absorb important vitamins, protect your organs, fuel your brain, and keep you feeling satisfied between meals.
The problem isn’t healthy fats.
The problem is consuming too many calories from highly processed foods while neglecting nutrient-dense sources of fat.
What Healthy Fats Do for Your Body
When included as part of a balanced nutrition plan, healthy fats help support:
Hormone Production
Many hormones are produced from dietary fats. Consuming too little fat for extended periods may negatively affect normal hormone function.
Brain Health
Your brain contains a high concentration of fat and relies on healthy fats to support normal structure and function.
Heart Health
Replacing some saturated fats with unsaturated fats—such as those found in olive oil, nuts, seeds, and fatty fish—is associated with improved cardiovascular health as part of an overall healthy dietary pattern.
Satiety
Healthy fats digest more slowly than many refined carbohydrates, helping you feel fuller after meals and making it easier to control hunger throughout the day.
Good Fat vs. Poor Food Choices
The Multibolic System™ doesn’t label foods as “good” or “bad.”
Instead, we ask a better question:
Does this food move me toward my goals?
Examples of nutrient-dense fat sources include:
- Avocados
- Salmon and other fatty fish
- Olive oil
- Almonds
- Walnuts
- Pistachios
- Natural nut butters
- Seeds such as chia, flax, and pumpkin
These foods provide healthy fats along with vitamins, minerals, fiber, or high-quality protein.
Highly processed snack foods, fried foods, and desserts may also contain fat, but they often provide excess calories with fewer beneficial nutrients.
The difference isn’t simply the amount of fat.
It’s the overall nutritional value of the food.
Balance Is the Key
Healthy fats are important—but so is portion control.
Remember:
Fat contains 9 calories per gram, compared with 4 calories per gram for protein and carbohydrates.
That doesn’t make fat “bad.”
It simply means calorie intake still matters.
The Multibolic System™ teaches balance:
- Protein builds and preserves muscle.
- Carbohydrates fuel activity.
- Healthy fats support hormones, brain function, and satiety.
- Vegetables and fruit provide vitamins, minerals, and fiber.
When these work together, your nutrition becomes sustainable instead of restrictive.
Your Multibolic™ Action Plan
This week, look at where your dietary fats are coming from.
✔ Include one serving of healthy fat with one or two meals each day.
✔ Replace highly processed snacks with whole-food alternatives like nuts or avocado when appropriate.
✔ Choose grilled or baked fish more often.
✔ Cook with healthy oils in moderation.
✔ Track your calorie intake to make sure healthy fats fit within your overall nutrition plan.
Remember:
Healthy fats support your goals—but balance drives results.

Coach’s Insight
One of the biggest nutrition myths I’ve seen over the years is the belief that eating fat automatically makes you fat.
Body fat isn’t created by one nutrient alone. It’s influenced by your total calorie intake, activity level, food choices, and long-term habits.
I’ve coached clients who improved their health, lost body fat, and felt more satisfied after learning to include healthy fats instead of fearing them.
The goal isn’t to eliminate food groups.
The goal is to build a balanced nutrition plan you can follow for years—not just a few weeks.
That’s the difference between dieting and creating a lifestyle.
